How to write a strong project proposal for NGOs

Funders read many proposals. The ones that succeed are clear, honest and easy to follow, and they fit the funder's priorities.
Read the call carefully
Note the priorities, eligibility, page limits and scoring criteria. Answer the questions that are asked, in the order they are asked.
State the need
Describe the problem with evidence and say who is affected. Keep it specific to the place and the people.
Set objectives and results
Define what the project will achieve, how you will measure it and by when. Link every activity to a result.
Build the budget
Make sure each cost matches an activity and that the totals add up. Include realistic staff time and management costs.
Address risks and sustainability
Name the main risks and how you will manage them, and explain what continues after the funding ends.
